About Garendon...

The Garendon High School a very successful secondary school for boys and girls aged between 11-14. As a Leicestershire High School, it specialises in the Key Stage 3 curriculum.

From its hilltop site, Garendon High School enjoys panoramic views of the town and the Charnwood countryside and is easily reached by public transport.  This Local Education Authority comprehensive school for 11-14 year olds provides a pleasant place for learning, has splendid facilities (see Links) and gains excellent results.  The school is also fully equipped for the disabled.

Four fully refurbished Science labs provide an excellent environment for young people to explore and experiment. Our sports facilities are well known and extensively used by ourselves and the extended community.

Our recently refurbished library, well stocked to resource and extend the curriculum, promotes reading and learning and pleasure.  Science laboratories provide a safe environment for young people to explore and experiment. Our excellent sporting facilities are well known and are well used by both us and the local community; we boast a gymnasium and a sports hall with a five a side football and badminton courts; extensive playing fields and hard court area.

Our impressive Assembly/Dining Hall, with stage, lighting and sprung floor has seen many fine concerts and productions in recent years and is highly valued by our local community for numerous events.

Other specialist accommodation includes a Drama Studio, Resources Centre, with extensive reprographic capability, film, TV and video, Keyboard Room, Food Technology room and Fabrics and Fashion Studio. Our Technology Department comprises spacious and well equipped Design, Art and Pottery Studios.  In addition to our splendid computer suites a number of other areas have their own suite of computers for students' use.

Welcome to the Garendon High School.  We are extremely proud of all the successes of our community of learners.  Notably the progress made by our pupils at Level 5+ places Garendon in the TOP 3% of similar schools nationally.  At Level 6+ the school is in the TOP 2%. 

I was appointed as Headteacher in 2005 and every day the students impress me with their enthusiasm, motivation and achievements.  Our committed team of specialist staff encourage and foster learning in addition to offering a wide range of opportunities for all children.  We work very closely with parents and we welcome you to visit our school and gain an insight into the high standards, enjoyment and energy of learning at Garendon.
